abstract: This study analyses the transformations in cultural patterns that are taking place in digital society and their reflection in communication processes, in public space and in the configuration of democracy. Along with the changes that naturally arise from technological development, tech companies are promoting “additional” cultural transformations that are aimed at favouring their business model and that are generating a different perception of time and space that is dysfunctional for pluralist democracy. These cultural transformations are reinforced by generative artificial Intelligence, which, at least in its first applications (such as ChatGPT), is becoming a source of systemic disinformation that affects not only the social and political sphere but also other aspects such as the economic, legal and technological.
