Abstract
The European Union often fails to convey what it does, its dynamism, its progress, its relaunches, its ‘visions’. Sometimes, it is simply ‘not communicated’. In recent years, the EU is the target of criticism of its institutions, its governance and its policies, and it struggles to escape preconceived ideas, sometimes fueled by simplifications, fake news, consolidated clichés. This article aims to retrace the history of one of these clichés, through a synthetic reconstruction of the evolution of the role and powers of the European Parliament, highlighting its achievements and limits.
